Church

The church of St. Peter and St. Paul is in the Church of England Langtree Team Ministry, which serves a group of seven South Oxfordshire communities.

This 12th century church is a Grade 1 listed building and a fine example of Romanesque architecture, its atmosphere reflects hundreds of years of prayer. Recent work has uncovered medieval paintings on the chancel wall dating from the 1330s.

Details of all churches within the team, church services, contacts within the team and the range of church activities are available from the Langtree Team Ministry web site.

Volunteer Transport Services

Nettlebed Surgery Bus
A minibus, organised by the Clerk to the Parish Council, transports patients to the Nettlebed Surgery.  It leaves Checkendon Post Office at 9.45am on Monday and Thursday to arrive at the surgery for 10.00am.  The return journey commences when all patients have completed their visit, so times vary.  Additionally, the minibus may be used to deliver NHS prescriptions from the Nettlebed Surgery to the Post Office for local collection.  The service is free of charge and uses unpaid volunteer drivers.  The mini bus is kindly loaned on Monday and Thursday for community use by Stoke Row School.  Donations are made towards the running costs by Checkendon, Stoke Row, Highmoor and Nuffield Parish Councils.

More drivers are urgently required.  If you have time to spare on Mondays or Thursdays and would like to help please Contact us.
