Cricket Club
The village sports field is home to the thriving Checkendon Cricket Club. They run one team playing most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. On Saturdays in 2005 the team will play in the Berkshire Cricket League Division II. Sunday fixtures are a mixture of 'friendly' matches against local teams and games with mainly nomadic sides, many of which travel from London.
There is a small but enthusiastic nucleus of players and hence the teams, particularly on Sundays, are a mix of up and coming junior and older more experienced players. In March the club holds pre-season indoor nets. During the season mid-week outdoor nets provide training, in particular to encourage, help and coach junior members.
